I know a friend of mine used to be sergeant in SAF, went to sign
on in SCDF and become an officer then. Rank should be recognised
but you probably had to go through all the courses again. As for
combat unit, there is an age limit for physical capabilities. If
your age is near to the limit, it is unlikely you will be able to
contribute much.
Usually, most ppl would prefer to jump from SAF to SPF, not the
other way round. I was told SPF carry revolver and route-march in
orchard rd, while the army route-march, majority knows what we need
to carry.
