Anyone here has been inside before? What does one undergo while inside, carry 20plus kgs sandbags on their back or with their arms 90 degrees in front, do NSmen need to shave bald as well? Will it constitute a criminal record once been inside for maybe a week's sentence? How is the food like? Please don't flame.

Yes, you will shave botak. you will share a cell with a few others as well.
you all will face the wall when in the cell.
you will wear yellow T-shirt with blue shorts (aka Brazilian Team).
you will be fed "home-cooked" food.. not cook-housed food, but be assured, the food has been "audited" before distributing
you will enjoy daily activities like excercising, jogging, basketball and foot drills
ttheres no mattress. you will sleep on some cheap straw mat. and no, you dont sleep whole day like a chalet. theres a strict regime.

its a nasty and hot and stuffy place in there.

reservist from what I remember is just a $50 dollar fine for everything.

from disciplinary officer: for IPPT not attending it or not attending remedial trainings(due to civilian work schedules)

1st time>>>>fine of $50

2nd time >>fine of $100

3rd time>>>detention barrack (non-negotiable)

all these are meant for post national service men working in civilian jobs or trying to make ends meet.they still would throw u in prison because they sound sometimes like a godamn robot!

I remember a few of the men from my ns unit got charged for AWOL from ICT and recall activation. Thrown into DB for a few days.

but i must say it all depends on your unit CO. at that time was very on the ball regular.

I heard from one of my ex colleague, his NS mate, AWOL for IPPT went kenna charged went into DB but never cut botak.....but sandbag etc still have.

I guess he skip too many times liao, but this still depend on unit. They decide that they need to be a bit strict on this or else fine only..lot of of these NSmen will sure pay.

Absence without leave
22. —(1) Every person subject to military law who is absent without leave from service in the Singapore Armed Forces or from the place where he is lawfully required for the time being to be shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a subordinate military court to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or any less punishment authorised by this Act.

(2) It shall be a defence for any person charged under this section to prove that his absence was a result of circumstances over which he had no control.

Desertion
23. —(1) Every person subject to military law who deserts shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a subordinate military court to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years or any less punishment authorised by this Act.

(2) For the purposes of this section, a person deserts if he —

(a) leaves or fails to attend at his place of duty in the Singapore Armed Forces with the intention of remaining permanently absent from duty without lawful authority, or, having left or failed to attend at his place of duty in the Singapore Armed Forces, thereafter forms the like intention; or

(b) absents himself without leave with intent to avoid service or any particular service before the enemy,

and references in this Act to desertion shall be construed accordingly.

Failure to report deserters and absentees
24. Every person subject to military law who, knowing that any other person has committed an offence under section 22 or 23 —

(a) fails to report the fact without delay; or

(b) fails to take any steps within his power to cause that person to be apprehended,

shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a subordinate military court to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or any less punishment authorised by this Act.
