Training Fees for Soldiers ?

Does anyone know how much is the liquidated cost of training the folowing?

1) Infantry Officers (for the duration of the OCS only)

2) Infantry Specialist (For BSLC and ASLC only)

3) NSF Rifle man (for the duration of his NS cycle)

Add to the list if you want. This is for fun and i'm sure you wil be surprised by the answers. I was told once that the cost of Training an Infantry Officer is into the tens of thousands each.

everybody from encik to chief trainer at pulau tekong agreed everything in me was 100% SOLDIER.not much training needed/...excpet throwing hand grenades and manning some german dudes torpedos.:)

Infantry officer... not surprising.

I think the formula for computing the cost of training a 2Lt is:-

1) BMT pay x months

2) Cadet pay x months in OCS

3) Logistics ... food, uniform, epaulettes, transport etc

4) Direct costs .... ammo expended per trainnee( say 500 rounds of small arms ammo) + 84MM round + ammonal etc

5) personnel costs apportionment ( i.e. the Trainers and OCS Staff assigned)

6) Miscellaneous staff costs

Could end up near $ 100K.

I remember reading that the cost of training and upkeep of a single grunt in the US Army can reach US$60,000/year.

Wouldn't be surprised if the cost of training and upkeep of a single SAF rifleman can hit five figures in a single year.

other than this, there is no way to know how much it cost to train a soldier? I mean directly.

Also, the defence budget is very vague. 0.1% is explained (poorly at that) and the rest 99% is places under the dubiously named "Military Expenditure"
