Firstly, I must thank EAC for prompt help and advice. But i
think he has misunderstood my question. I am not trying
to ask if being in IHL allows me to get exempted from all NS
activities. But rather is it normal to get called up so soon after
ORD. By locking the thread, he is actually denying
me further views from other experts. ANyway, i have found
out the answer myself. THere is indeed something
wrong. As a National Serviceman
(NSman), you will not be called up for any NS activities for the
first 6 months of your release from full-time NS. I
just saw this from myord module. under the section of NS ICT.
Hope EAC will not be so fast to lock any threads in future so can
allow for more discussion. Tks.
Just to share, for mob manning, you can be scheduled to be
called up EVEN the next day after you ORD.
Since you are entering uni in about July/Aug, calling you up in
May will not result in any clash. I was even called during my exam
period, though I manage to easily get "deferment" from the WO in
charge for the days which falls on my exam dates.
Mob manning usually ( over 90%) takes place on weekends, and
most of the time you just need to bring your stuffs down and sign
and go back. In fact, you won't necessary be called up even if it
is stated that a certain week or two is the mob-manning period.
