Is there such a rule in the SAF that
forbids hugging and kissing of your wife/gf in public?
Not that I know of, especially having dealt with the regimental,
discipline and legal aspect of the SAF for a
while. Could be an urban legend and one of the more common
misconception of SAF. SAFRA mag, the
newspapers and Pioneers have featured soldiers hugging and/or
kissing their partners in the past esp on articles that featured
soldiers returning or leaving for peace missions.
It all depends on the context, the extent of doing it and public
expectations that make the act right or wrong.
Of course, best is to refrain lah.
