Looks real to me (I've built several dozen AR-pattern rifles for
myself and members of our shooting club). I think the purpose of
that picture was to show which parts were specifically refinished
in pink and white to achieve the "Hello Kitty" theme; the owner
probably did not bother to refinish the hidden internals, which
would explain the conspicuous absence of the bolt carrier group,
buffer, trigger disconnector, hammer and gas tube.
The rifle-style pistol grip marks this particular AR as a
California-compliant version.
