NS for Permanent Residents ?

I have heard rumours that being a permanent resident decreases the chance of getting into OCS, is that true?

and if thats true does wanting to take up citizenship after NS help in anyway?

I know my friend was a PR when he enter NS......he's an officer......seriously why do you want to be an officer so much. If your desire is to be an officer the fastest and sure way is to sign on.

The PRs that I had served with viewed serving NS as an aid in helping them get citizenship....

I don't mean to sound crude but if you or the person you are asking for is going to the extent of hoping to use citizenship application to gain officership in the armed forces,I seriously question the motive to be an officer in the first place.....

Officers no good de la... only action nia... use rank to scare people nia... think they very smart... some officers are bastards.. in fact most of them are bastards, because they know they can do anything to you and you would not be able to retaliate..

well at least NS in Singapore is considerable safe, minus the few freak death cases here and there.

Out of curiosity,why do you not want to serve the time as a men or spec?

Money?Rank?Power?Pride?Garang(I doubt that is the case since you find it a waste of time)?Bragging rights?

There are many many many PR in NS and some in OCS. Many PR in fact volunteer for NS in order to get Sing citizenship.

There has even been a PR who got SAFOS, but they must pass the strict security clearance for SAFOS and accept Singapore citizenship before they accept. He is a former HK immigrant, whose parents were part of the HK exodus who migrated to Singapore before 1997 handover. Ng Pak Shun and he got 3 year MAJ.

Yes...i know someone with oz's passport serving NS, I think he was in some contract or some understanding with the SAF, that upon 21 years old he must denouce his Oz citizenship in order that SAF will sponsor his studies in Westpoint.
