You got an offer of a farmer scholarship that no one wants (that says it would send you overseas), which a few of us here say holders of the mentioned scholarship are not high achievers..

You only said you were awarded the SMS, which doesn't mean anything because it's nothing and which Kashiva, Codexboy and I concurred to be a farmer scholarship. Two among us also testified that none of the SMS we know are intelligent or had paticularly decent grades. So you have hardly proved that you could have qualified for top foreign institutions.

Well, so says you. You are right. Those friends of mine who got into LSE, cambridge, oxford with results similar to mine are wrong. Maybe my tutor is wrong when she said that I could've qualified for a top overseas uni is wrong because her 15 years' worth of students is worth less than your opinion.

As for SMS... Well no comments really because I have seen people who got it with very good results and people who got it with less-than-decent results. To discount the 90th percentile because of the 10th percentile is doing statistical injustice.

And oh, don't compare yourself to Hugh Hefner or Einstein. It stains their names. I am just saying that you are just one bitter soul because you have no way to climb up the social strata ladder. You weren't even offered the escape route.

Of course, I will refrain from telling people that I went to university in the future because people like you actually graduated from universities.

I don't care if you claim to know some SMS with "very good results". Who knows what's good to you isn't good to anyone else. Moreover, it doesn't change the fact that it's a farmer scholarship. And if people with less the decent results can get in, it means that's its lowest common denominator.

I don't think you've got it yet, farmer. farmer university = NUS, NTU and SMU. Even people who did not go to university are not farmers compared to being educated badly and coming away confused. It's no secret that the standards of students who aspire and accept the offers of the farmer universities are laughable. So many of them can't string proper sentence in English, all possess sua ku and frog in the well mentality, and of inferior intellectual calibre. So no, I can't have gone to a farmer university to answer your question, because I didn't deign to do so.

I'm quite sure I've interacted with enough non graduates and poly graduates that are superior in intellect and exercise more independent thought and critical thinking skills than the farmer graduates.

I didn't expect anyone above the age of 7 to think that reptiles breastfeed or be confused about whether 'million' had 6 zeros all the time or "some of the time only".

Well, who cares about my tutor? Well too bad then. She has wrote so many recommendations for her students that she knows approximately who has the chance to get into the top schools.

More than grades? Of course. Yet, that's pretty much true for US. UK? Ha. Grades do matter. And for that matter, one of my NS course mate got into LSE Management Science without an A.

And regarding your argument about the lowest common denominator, why don't you check up the lowest grades for the top schools and tell me about their "lowest common denominator".

I'm not about to lay the foundations for accusations of elitism, which is unfounded should it arise. This isn't elitism, simply seen by how foreign grads can see the superiority of so many non-graduates over the FARMER graduates. This isn't a branded-uni-is-better-than-you issue. It's a farmer-graduates-are-a-disgrace-to-higher-education issue.

Elitism is prevalent is Singapore. Most singaporean local grads, or "farmer graduates", don't really mind it.
