Hi TS, i can only speak for the army A mech experience. I
was in ayer rajah camp, duties still have to do. As sec comd
trained i have to take on guard 2ic duties. Occasionally ATTS field
exercises require me to take part. Went on exercise Wallaby
2005 had a good experience. Some regulares are nice, some really
sux. part n parcel of any army exp. good thing abt Armour tech, 8
to 5 usually unless have things such as LRI . you are responsible
for veh maintenance as mentioned by some people here, and also some
repairs, usually u do most major jobs even, unless those really too
hard such as changing camshaft n such in the engine which we don do
anymore. good news, 70% of what you learn can put into use for your
own vehicle.its not bad a life if you wanna sign on, but well its
the SAF usually overstaffed in some vocations, wanna cut jobs, or
cost then ask u golden handshake or early release like the seniors
during my time. Most of my reg friends in service choose to early
release even without the service asking them to do so. they juz
cannot take it after few years. so TS think twice ya!
