I’m gonna edit my post here due to certain
misunderstandings.
Is it reallie true that male Singaporeans who undergo full-time
madrasah education through secondary, tertiary and university level
are given a choice in joining NS? That they are given the option to
exempt or include themselves from National Service.
Personally, being a proponent of NS, I believe that NS should
also be compulsory for them all.
Besides, NS can only be beneficial for them and as for the
madrasah students who actually opt into NS despite given the choice
not to; an admirable act indeed.
Also, I would like to know the reasons why some of them opt out,
of course, besides the 2-long-years reason and reservist which are
universal.

are exempted from doin’ their NS? Personally, I dun feel that it’s
fair that the rest of us have to do NS while they are let off
scott-free. As a Singaporean, I am proud to serve my NS (december
2008 enlistment), but am disappointed that some of us, who are not
physically or mentally handicapped, are excused from such
duties.
