why people say putting ur gear in to neutral when u go to down slope or watsoever just to save on petrol? how do u link to idling? when idling , the Fuel consumption is high, but putting ur gear into neutral when u go downslope isn't another words as idling downslope since ur engine don work? Confused

fc = distance travelled / amount of fuel used

scenario 1: down slope in neutral

distance = length of slope, amount of fuel used = little => fc very good

scenario 2: idling

distance = 0, amount of fuel used = little => error in generating fc.
