Why nowadays , so many advertisement on navy?

last SG · 2008-01-03T22:26:29+00:00

That is so damn true...but NSFs shouldn't be a major solution.

Resentment SG

there are advertiement on the train , on the tv and other place , why are they so in need of people? i go their website see , do until so nice , i also feel like signing on for one of their vocation le. Haiz they advertise till so hiong because all the regulars quit after their contract is it?

BrUtUs SG

stellazio SG

propaganda. Laughing

eac SG

its the market demand and supply trends... principles of marketing...

for mindef, its always most of the time where the demand (regular intake requirement) exceeds the supply (manpower).

when the ecomomy is rising and improving, no one is willingly want to sign on one..... its only when another finanical crisis... retrenchment there and here will one starts to think of the defence recruitment...

its true... a bumper crop of regulars during the 97-98 asian finanical crisis, as noted...

FBI SG

navy lacks of ppl seriously

edwin3060 SG

The Navy usually finds it hard to retain people because of the long deployments, especially if assigned to LSTs and possibly the new frigates, and crazy schedules. It is also unable to make as much use of NSF as the Army due to the greater amount of technical training required. It doesn't have as much prestige as the Air Force (IMO). All these add up to give the Navy a hard time Laughing

Arapahoe SG

need people to fill up the new vessel. It takes time to train so start recruitment drive now.

Resentment SG

i think shatec holders can easily get into navy chef vocation , lol last time i nearly went to shatec , but in the end i still go do sports management. more brighter future , sports is becoming bigger in singapore.

SBS3625D SG

You got every damn thing right.

We urgently need people.

I mean, they are desparate enough to send NSFs to their frigates? Twisted Evil

My advice to you is, DO NOT sign-on unless you are prepared to multi-task under mental stress, and can tolerate sea-state.

Gordonator SG

worst come to worst they re-assign army and RSAF regulars to navy loh. Laughing

Resentment SG

are you a regular in navy? lolz.

SBS3625D SG

Nope. I'm an NSF.

LazerLordz SG

The RSN’s new roles in the 3G SAF require more manpower and longer/more intensive deployments.

SBS3625D SG

x 2!

But frankly speaking...it would be better to get more people than the usual crew we are expected to get because, even with the full complement.......
it is still too few.

To fight a battle more effectively, you need more manpower. There's only so much 1 can multi-task.

eac SG

then talk to saf army... army devour most of the nsf into army soldiers...

seriously... less people will sign on when the economy is getting a bit better day by day... armed forces cannot fight the financial economy...

Rovert SG

Apparently thats what we're trained for, to multi-task!! That explains the tremondous mental stress one gets.

Well, its all part and parcel of training and survival. Jus suck it up and do ur job Seaman.

Your whining is making me feel sick and ashamed when i know we're bothSeaman but of a different voc and platform. Im WCS and LST trained.

If u think i`ve stepped on ur tail by being so straightforward then let me tell u, there are some things u dont know but i know. As i`ve been in both the Ops and Admin side of things. 191 Sqn and HQ RSN respectively.

PS: I aint ruling out the possibility there are things u know and i dont know too yeah? So.. PEACE OUT!

Fairwinds and following seas fellow Sailor!

propaganda Laughing

SBS3625D SG

But when you think about it......more manpower would be more desirable right?

I'm not whining. It's a fact. And it's something all of us at 185 agree.

Moreover, multi-tasking is hardly desirable. Knowing how to man another additional system is different from being expected to man another system. It's been proven time and again to reduce a force's effectiveness.

But what to do? Such are circumstances.
