May I know when you get the news of reduing the number of NSFs sent overseas, and where u get it from?

I belong in maintainance unit as well and i heard it more than a year back from the regulars but in the end they still sent NSFs over. You often will hear stuff in army but sometimes they are just not implemented or delay till dunno when.

Each oversea base have different amount of NSF and different ORD timing so it will depend how many replacement are needed each time to determine how many will be posted overseas from the AMBs.

What i mean is that i understand our training will be of oeti = 3 months, follow by ojt: 2 months, following by posting to unit (rest of nsf life). On which phrase will we be activiated (tat word really scared me...)?

and have u come across any ppl who rejected their overseas posting, yet are still being summonned overseas? a wo was saying something like "just take it positively! don't go mp complain or whatever, or any reasons...".

sorry! one more question… dental ffi (i’ve never been through), is it true that if u’ve got wisdom teeth unplucked, u’ll not be eligile for overseas posting?

You really make it sound scary by using the word 'activated'. Laughing Chill - you'll get ample notice because you'll need to do all the documentation beforehand. Like I said, you'll know if you've been earmarked during OJT, and confirmation comes after you've done all the processes.

If you have serious concerns, raise them during your interview with your superior at that time. Fear ought not to be one of them - clarify your suspicions here or with seniors. Take things a day at a time.

Yes, you'll very unlikely be sent overseas if you don't get your wisdom teeth extracted. My guess is that they don't want to take chances with the standards or the accessibility of dental care wherever you're going.

do u know what kind of documentation to do? i've friend who were "activiated" (oh, gosh...), and he has to go within 1 or 2 months.. but he is those "willing" type, whereby he had a chance or so.

read in many other forums that they're also being forced to be posted overseas... that really arose my fear...

Like I've said, documentation includes medical and dental FFIs, wisdom tooth extractions, interviews with your company line superiors, clearance with your parent unit, going to CMPB for all manner of stuff and embarkation leave (I may have missed out a thing or two).

It's certainly less scary than being activated for aid/rebuilding missions like Ops Flying Eagle, or to support peacekeeping efforts in East Timor...for that you have to be ready to go within a day. Razz

That's a lot of stuffs... so by the time we're selected and ready to be forced to go, we'll be under a parent unit, right? We have to be under a parent unit (not oeti or ojt) in order for us to be embarked?

Your parent unit will be either 3 or 9 AMB for B mech, 3 AMB if you are C, 1 AMB if you are A.

When you get posted to your for OJE just learn as best as you can. Most people are posted back to the unit they train at but every so often there are people posted to the other AMB or to combat units directly instead of 1 of the AMBs. Once you get posted to your unit after OJE, you can check with them whether you are marked for overseas and they that should already be confirmed as all local tech will need to be tagged into their ATTS sections which will exclude all personnel marked for overseas posting. You can try asking during OJE but sometimes the info can be changed and what you been told during OJE might change when you get your final posting due to some last minute changes on CPC side like what happened to my batch.

Sure thanks! Btw, for selection, do they prefer pes A / B? because I am in PES A / B, whereas there r quite a number of PES C ppl...

Oh, and tat also means my worry will contiune, on and on, until I am posted to unit... That's very stressing.

There is no preference for overseas posting as far as i know but PES A/B is normally preferred for everything.

Don't worry so much. Enjoy your life in OETI, its the fav place of all techs and going for BM courses etc was like going back for 1 month holiday for us. Don't worry so much, if you really don't want to be posted overseas, you can try talk to your PC etc after you posted to unit and as long as the list of personnel posted overseas is not finalize yet, you might still have a chance to op out of it.

I'm fine if you ever want to pm any questions or anything.
