MINDEF webbie has some info on the course i think. it's 65 days, and it includes very exacting and demanding program - to be trained in small group tactics...

Short Ninja SG

When you are a qualified SOF you get to wear the Red Beret.

wonderamazement SG

Btw here's the app form.

http://www.specialoperations.com/Foreign/Singapore/form.htm

wonderamazement SG

When you sign up you have to be a regular at that point in time?

Short Ninja SG

You can be an Nsf when you sign up for the selection but once selected you need to sign on.

Detached SG

Heard from a friend whom is a regular in ADF – Nee Soon Camp… That many from his company earned the ranger tab…

wonderamazement SG

All along i thought being a regular was a pre-requisite... Laughing Thx, Short Ninja.

LazerLordz SG

I don’t think that is the actual application form.

wonderamazement SG

Well we haven't seen the actual one so we wouldn't know for sure. Laughing

Rovert SG

Ng Heng Chew is one of the Rangers which i respect most Smile

wonderamazement SG

He sounds very familiar. Confused

Gedanken SG

Hey, my old OC! I still keep in touch with him.

specialOps SG

He was CO of SISPEC when I was there... is he retired? LTC right?

He went thru Ranger and US Navy SEAL....ex SOF force commander i heard.

Gedanken SG

Not SEAL - USSF. Yup, he retired at the end of last year, I think.

wonderamazement SG

What’s the difference between the US Green Berets and Delta Force?

Rockhound SG

Special forces- SFOD-A
Delta Force- SFOD-D

US Army Special forces more to training indigenous troops of ally country they are in...train them in guerrilla warfare...assist these groups..

Delta force is the US army CT unit

Icemoon SG

different units under differnet commands.

USSF is under USASOC .. Delta is under JSOC.

Icemoon SG

Actually Special Forces is SFOD-A, B and C. It depends whether it is the A-team, B-Detachment (company level), or C-Detachment (battalion level).

A, B, C teams are commanded by captains, majors and lieutenant colonels respectively. Charlie Beckwith intended Delta to be commanded by a colonel.

Rockhound SG

remembered..A teams work together with rebels and militants ...12 people i think...a 1 unit army... able to incite full blown battles together with local troops

Icemoon SG

yup .. SFs do more UW than DA. This is evident in the final exam for selection - Robin Sage.

LazerLordz SG

Foreign Internal Defense is another key role too.
