Eh, why not? Where you think people take shelter from the rain?
~lol~ I'd trained with M113s during active time so I dunno for unit
life. But in reservist, drivers & the men were allowed to
retire there at the end of each day. During ROC, there's not much
to do but koon during the day-long BN convoy journey down south
either. Back at base camp, some crazy buggers even ventured to
sleep inside them (instead of the cramped bunks) before fleeing
after a while.
Why? Cuz the tonner floor is always dirty ~lol~ Mud was relatively
tolerable; you can throw a poncho over it before settling down. But
soil/earth attracts mosquitos, crawlies & -- eternally -- sand
flies, & no one can tahan being cooped up & subjected to
such commando attacks! Everywhere else (underneath the tonner,
inside the tentage, in the open, nearby training shed) is a better
fate.
