Ben C SG hi i am 19 this year and will be enlisting next year. however, i have heard from my father that last time during the emergency period my grandfather was somehow involved in communist activities and it resulted me having with a communist background. so i would like to know whether during NS i will be restricted to some vocations and it will deter my chances of going to OCS?
Herzog_Zwei SG Back in the 70s and 80s, yes, there was. Now, there is only white horses and black horses.
Herzog_Zwei SG I did tell him the answer.Nowadays, MSD couldn't care less if this guy was from a former Red family.
blitzonic SG Yes, you’re “traceable” if they conduct a cursory security check. But not to worry at all, if you’ve gone through the S’pore education system. Better yet, if your dad himself had gone it as well as through NS.
kengkia SG USSR gone, berlin wall down, iron curtain broken de-communization of Vietnam and China and a crumbling North Korea....good days gone....
blitzonic SG Even PRs have made it to OCS.Yeah, there's no final prejudice. I still don't think PRs who went through private or overseas schools are assessed on the same measure as those who attended Govt schools (& thereby "indoctrinated"), though.
Dr Who SG Former Singapore President Devan Nair was a communist ok? not an ordinary one but a true card carrying red.... Still become Prezident OK? your grandpa cannot beat this..... '\'
specialOps SG Won’t affect lar…..the communist threat is over and invalid, and its two generations back already.
