2 SIR CO last batch was a Col
LTCs for COs very common nowadays...
Not so simple. LTC is supposed to be a senior officer &
that, even for super highfliers, one must go through the SCSC
course before awarding the rank. (He may also have time to finish a
Masters degree on the side, if he wants to.) To command a BN, I
thought attending the "intermediate" BN Tactics Course (at AOAS) is
sufficient? Unless SAFTI MI has changed its model for
advanced-officer training, IMO it's rare to see such a
reverse-command appointment & promotion without prior BN CO
experience.
I was figuring that perhaps the 3 SIR stint was some sort of a
special arrangement, to account for its urban-ops trials &/or
if this LTC has a very technical-relevant background. But it can't
be if what you say about other INF units is true ...
Mea culpa on confusing which is the higher authority: LTC or full
COL. The Lieutenant-affix is the opposite at the higher level (LG
vs. MG), so I sometimes lose track.
