correct. the old academic quadification rank promotion rule for
pte, lcp and cpl is scrapped. any men can get cpl rank if
recommanded and pass their second year ippt. thats the new
directive just out early this year. but most units will restricted
still with a unit self-administered rank quota system and time
period from the date of enlistment (doe). earliest lcp rank u can
get is 7 months from doe, cpl is 12months for combat, 15months for
service and tech (pes c and e).
so now is all depending on ur unit s1 branch pple.
the administrative compulsory promotion to cpl rank nearing ord for
a lvl and dip grad is also scrapped. under the old system, even ur
rank is pte but u have a lvl/ dip, u auto promoted to cpl by mindef
cpc department when near ord. but now, this will ceased.
