My understanding is that handphone chargers, like the electric
coil (used to cook Maggi Mee), are banned cuz the sockets inside
your regular army bunks are really, really old. Unless already
substantially re-wired, they wouldn't have been be certified by PSB
or its modern equivalent, Spring S'pore.
Dunno about camp offices where, I suppose, military discipline
(i.e. against leeching) is also a factor.
