Don't worry, everyone will get a share. Now, they will say that
the civil service is lagging behind, so increase pay, then they
will say that they need to attract more nurses, so need to increase
pay, otherwise nobody takes the job. Then, there will be the
teachers, because nobody wants to have this noble profession
because they are not paid more than other less noble profession.
MINDEF / MHA will come and say that all along, uniformed groups are
paid 20% premium above the rest, so will need adjustment.
This will take a lot of talent away from the private sector, and
therefore the private sector salary increases. Then it will be back
to the civil service and they must increase pay to attract talents
slipping to the private sector. This is a vicous circle.
With a little more money for everyone, people will start committing
in houses, then the housing price will increase.
When the private sector decides that they need to contain costs,
they will move their operations to a less costly country, people
get retrench, and then housing will spiral downwards.
Does this sound familiar ?
