I know BMT is still 5 and the half working days. But what about unit life, excluding duties, exercises and etc? Is it 5 working days? Anyone who is serving NS can tell me?

Thanks in advance.

Gordonator SG

5 working days.

but remember, once u handed in your pink IC, u are required to be on standby 24/7. that means come back to work no questions asked should the need arises. Laughing

The return SG

How often does this happen? If like that got off given right?

allentyb SG

5 and a half days

The return SG

my bad my bad... it should be 5 or 5 1/2 days.

So really Sat needs to come back to sweep the floor?

Gordonator SG

1 example immediately came to mind, namely national day parade for all those involved.

in most cases offs will be given.

Gordonator SG

most units operate on 5 working days.

no need come back sat to sweep floor lah. unless your cammander order u to. in which case u are also not in the position to reject. Laughing

The return SG

Which commander is that stupid to ask the platoon to come back to sweep the floor on Sat ? Laughing

All his years of experience only know how to ask his soldiers to sweep floor?

Lance_han SG

vito_corleone SG

your commanders should tell you very soon, in SAF there is no such thing as 8 to 5 or 5 day work week. even the directive states something like: "for defense purposes the government implemented 5 day workweek does not apply directly to NSmen" Laughing

bananacake SG

ya nowadays normally civilian cleaners do the sweeping n washing toilets in camps

caleb_chiang SG

Wah... so good life meh??? Laughing

Unidentified SG

wah ! next time muz feedback ask civillian help wash uniform liao Twisted Evil Laughing

KoolKool SG

I don't know why SCDF NS boys so good life. One 24-hr shift and then 2 days off. During the 24 hours shift, they get to sleep as well.

Seems like there is a huge disparity over the NS treatment. SCDF NS - 1 week - work 2 days, off 5 days. SAF NS - work 5 days, off 2 days. Like that when NS kena Army, sure curse and swear.

Arapahoe SG

there is no such thing as official hour in a War zone. So that basically answer all questions.

KoolKool SG

Understood, but we are not in a war zone.

And we are not likely to go to war in a long time to come. We live peacefully, and practice peacetime procedures, such as going home, shopping and movies. We have an Army so we can enjoy peace. So what's the point of trying to living life in a warzone when we should be enjoying the peace we have created.
