The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) demonstrated its
Networked Air Defence capability at Tengah Air Base on Monday
morning.
The event showcased the RSAF's ability to see further, respond
faster and deal more effectively with any aerial threat.
The show featured the networking of existing and new sensors,
ground-based air defence weapons, and command and control systems
to shorten the RSAF's sensor-to-shooter cycle.
The new Networked Air Defence capability enhances the RSAF's
current multi-layered air defence system with better awareness,
improved responsiveness, greater precision and overall system
robustness.
The event also featured the declaration of operational capability
of the Giraffe Agile Multiple Beam (AMB) Radar, the Upgraded I-HAWK
surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, the Mechanised Igla air
defence weapon system and the Enhanced Remote Weapon Display (ERWD)
system.
The ERWD enhances early warning and command and control by
providing an integrated air picture to the RSAF's air defence fire
units.
The integration of innovative air defence concepts, advanced
technologies and well-trained people, under the Networked Air
Defence system of the Air Defence and Operations Command (ADOC), is
another significant milestone in the transformation of the 3rd
Generation RSAF.
Monday's event was officiated by Minister for Defence Teo Chee
Hean.
