wash can be built.
If you think this is not constructive suggestion, maybe you have
something better other than insisting the drivers to do it. I
understand your frustration over mud, but do you understand the
drivers' frustrations ? Is it an issue that you are not equipped
properly with a goggle instead ?
You are looking only from your point of view as a technician and
you think that drivers are not doing their part. And you know what
the driver thinks ? Wtf, the technician is going to make the
vehicle so oily and dirty after the repairs, that they might as
well do a proper wash after, than before, sending to the
workshop.
What about civil requisition ? Do you expect the civil resource
owners to wash their vehicles so SAF can inspect and accept them
?
I don't see a problem that SAF tonners enroute a washing station on
the way back to camp after an exercise in the field, as part of the
operating procedure.

Firstly let me qualify my stand as a technician. Mud stuck on
under carriages hinder inspection process and definetly sure the
repair processs, why? When we goes under carriage to conduct
inspection, we are to look out for symptons suck as oil seepages,
etc etc. when the under carriage is caked in mud, the mud
ACTUALLY
soaks up the mud. it is true that after repair, vehicles gets all
dirty and oily. BUT please allow me to enlighten your limited
knowledge on the SOP of technicians. In accordance with ISO 9001
and ISO 9002, all repaired vehicles are to be QC before it is
returned to the end users. The QC inspector other than ensuring
that all detected faults are rectified, it is also his duty to
ensure that the technicians repairing the vehicle wash the vehicle
before sending it for QC.
Goggles or not is not the issue here. Th issue here is that nobody
is ensuring that the correct people do the correct job that is with
in their area of work.
YOU get what i'm trying to say?
For CR, my answer to you is yes. Part of the inspection criteria is
that the vehicles are to be cleaned and ready for inspection. I
know because i wrote a paper on CR last year for one of my warrants
taking his 1WO promotion exam.
Cheers!!
Also, all SAF vehicles are not allowed to leave training areas
without going throough the wash pool which is found at all training
area BUT NO ONE enforces this cos after every field training,
everybody wants to RTU and book out. Not that it is wrong but who
carries out the follow up? Usually is nobody until someone makes
hell lot of a noise like me here in this forum.
