I know that CCAs are somehow needed for our N/O Level.But think again.I it really necessary to have CCA in school?CCAs are just a waste of time especially when you get scolded and punished the wrong way if you see the linked topic.So I feel that CCAs should be abolished or made voluntary.

Well, i believe CCA is important for holistic education. Especially when they teach you certain values such as teamwork, cooperation with peers, etc.

Maybe gives you a set of skkill or able to find out your hobbies and what you really like to do, interactions and socialise with people from the same CCA.

It is compulsory. It's for the sake of your portfolio when you graduate. It's more on developing your interest like arts or sports. It even gives you bonus points on your o level aggregate

best to find something that you're really interested in, and can turn into a lifelong hobby or even business

To me CCAs are required. Because purpose of school is just an instituition where you attend to absorb in knowledge and hard facts and this can be done on your own by reading books or online schooling ,i.e Home schooling.

But those are called hard skills.

When you come out to work in the society, its not the hard skills that are required but more of the soft skills a.k.a interpersonal relationships, how you control your emotions (react vs respond), leadership, and other organisational skills. Your potential employers and bosses are looking at all these when hiring. Graduating from school just merely gives you a white piece of paper saying you are a good robot, you take in commands and processes and regurgitate them well. The white piece of paper is a vehicle to get you into the society but your soft skills are those that propels you to greater heights and allows you to survive out there in the world where "dogs eat dogs".

Take up a CCA that aligns well with your interests and passions. You will definitely gain more than lose more.

CCAs are quite important in my opinion. You can learn some skills (eg. musical or leadership) and gain great friends who have aligned interests as you by joining a CCA that you like.

Furthermore, you can use it to deduct points from your final O level/N levels. So why not?

CCA is up to you interest, although schools put some pirority on cca other than academic

Speaking from personal experience, CCA can be fulfilling if you choose the right one, and can be a pain if you choose (or are placed in) the wrong one.

I was put into a uniform group CCA in secondary school and I did not enjoy it at all. I found it boring, pointless and meaningless to do footdrill just for the "sake of instilling teamwork and discipline". There were, however, some girls who enjoyed it and I was clearly not one of them. In JC, I auditioned and got into a performing arts CCA and I loved it so much. It was by no means a smooth journey, given that I did not have a performing arts background unlike everyone else in that CCA. Despite the hard work, stress and late nights, I grew so much in those two years. I had the opportunity to develop my passion in the arts and got to perform in concerts and festivals in Singapore and California.

Thus, it all boils down to what CCA you choose.

Even though CCA's are very important in life, I think it is more important to have a smart thinking and a positive approach to live.

Whatever you do, if the approach is taken with a winning attitude mapped with creative thinking and leadership- it will make you excel in life.

Find CCAs that enrich your life, or topics that interest you.
Eventually, if you pick the correct CCAs, IE Topics/stuff that you're really interested in, you'll not only have found a vocation you might want to commit the rest of your life to, even making it your job, you'd have found like minded ppl that you can be friends with for the rest of your life. (if sometimes you don't gel well with your classmates-cos those are almost entirely random)
