With CAF now conducting the major re-org in the Air Force, he should be primed for CDF post to re-org the entire SAF. Hopefully, he can trim the Contract Service manpower and release more 'talents' into the booming economy.

Civil Service cannot hog up too many manpower. Every head reduction will mean lesser red tape.

the ideal CDF must be one who is capable of 3 elements, air, sea and land namely airborne, diving and chiong suah. bonus advantage will be IPPT Gold and marksman.

Embarassed No, I don't have any problems with regular soldiers at all ........... just hope to see more CS people releasing their potential in the commercial world. Sorry if my economically-biased view offended the dedicated and loyal people.

He and CGO came down with all the GSOC people and joined us for the battalion 10km run (which was probably organised to wayang to him) but in the end backfired...alot of us took it as a leisurely morning stroll and he made noise about it Laughing

Yeah....what potential? The only skills combat regulars have when "released" into the concrete jungle is the ability to carry heavy fking loads and walk long distances...and we don't use camels anymore.

MG Desmond likes to go to camps and join in Unit runs… he came to my unit to run too… so wayang was very necessary… all the RSM/CSM all shouting and acting garang. hahaha.

Luckily he did not get pissed enough to demand he get a report in 2 weeks time that the battalion must have 100% gold ippt.

I choose to think that Regulars stayed too long in the SAF and converted their lethal potential into endurance skills you mentioned. If they were out in the market younger, that potential could be unleashed.

Singapore will need a lot more people in the commercial sector than in civil service. It does not make sense to me that Singaporeans works in the Government service and provide the infrastructure for foreigners to make big bucks. It should be the other way around : Singaporean earning big bucks and paying meagre money to foreigners to run the essential services.
