guidelines of malaysian vehicles entering SAF camps

as we know, everyday there are many civilian vehicles like delivery, contractors entering in and out of miliatary camps.

i heard from my RP friends that all malaysian registered vehicles, no matter of delivery stocks or whatever reasons are not allowed to enter any military camps. so how valid is this statement?

as far as i know there is no special directive on foreign vehicles entering camps.

Unless there is a camp specific standign order.

If I remember correctly, that 's right. Unless the foreigner is on official visit, then FMLB will liase.

I think what vehicle does not matter. It matters who enters the camp, and whether they are properly screened.

I thought I overhead someone saying that they just need to borrow a Singapore IC and the dumb MPs / RPs would just accept it. I think the SAF must upgrade this aspect. With technology, they should be able to get the thumbprints to match with the IC.

I am very disappointed with camp's book-in/out procedures considering the other equipments we use in army.

Using A4 sized books with ruler drawn lines is so... 1900s.

And the system of communications between expected visitors for the day and people receiving them is simply telephone.

Can't they use corporate type book-in/out?

Like guardhouse is linked by ethernet to resident unit's computer. Then ppl input data of guest they are expecting. The we just scan barcode of i/cs or input into computer their visit.

I think most of you here who did guard comd have experienced few incidents where Officers are locked out because guardroom is not informed of their visit.

In the end we get scolded like, "How can you let an Officer wait outside"

Malaysian vehicles are not allowed to enter into camps. if let say malaysian workers/contractors are working inside the camps and they came in motorcycles, they are to park their motorcycles outside the camp and walk in themselves to change pass.

No lar, as with all good government bodies, must write in to get approval for tender. Then the reviewing officer will have to write in to DSTA to find out if they can come up with something on a budget. That one will take time. Laughing

Or get DSTA to come up with a contest see who can design a good book in/out system for $50000 cash prize, like that warfare robot thing. Laughing But if they're really stingy, make it a unit level contest, with the first prize 2 days off.

That is the BIG flaw of lowest bidder.

I have seen many new SAF projects falling apart few months after commissioning.

This is especially in new camps...

lowest bidder = cheap toilet bowls = not durable.

Not to be specific, some camps have sewage pipes leaking into water pipe. And funds for the repair wasn't readily available.

Hmmm, cant be. If its true... that means my division's camp securities are doing wrong things then.

cos, i saw a malaysian plate veh coming in after booking in... and even asked me where is the division block etc etc..., so yeah... he allowed entry even though guard personnel knew its a foreign registered car...

i guess it depends on the camps the vechicle is entering. usually camps with no sensitive units will not have much difficulty entering.

i think guards personnel won't know all this or even care. RPs should know better.
