Don't let your disagreement with your PS hinder you in any way.
You don't have to prove him wrong or right. Just remember that as
long as you can tell yourself you have done your best, you should
be satisfied.
When you have unfinished and unnecessary issues surrounding you,
you'd never be free from having to show other people your progress
and being under the influence of the opinions of others.
As an officer, it is up to you what sort of degree of interaction
you want with your men. For e.g, if you are a Scout PC, you'd be
out with the guys on exercises most of the time, together in a
team. Same goes for Armour.
Vocation plays a role, and even if you are eventually posted to a
BN HQ as a staff officer, what makes you a good leader is whether
you are willing to overcome the traditional stereotype that
officers do not mix with the men etc, and make the effort to mix
around while not compromising your command effectiveness.
Through my experience, many cadets show a sense of eagerness to
learn, but they are quite liable to learn the wrong things
associated with rank and ego too. Keep your chin level dude, and be
yourself. You should be fine.
