Most of those who were from NCC, turned out to be those that suffered the most. Because they went in with some expectation in their heads, unlike the rest who went in with their eyes more open than not.

My platoon sergeant in BMT was a violinist. 'Nuff said.

that's actually quite true, for SCDF/NCDCC.

for NCC/SAF....maybe only drills and range

for NPCC/SPF... drills, range, some knowledge of crime prevention is imparted, and the penal code and organization of the SPF is taught to the Sec 3 cadets. however T-baton and all those law lessons and unarmed tactics are only taught to those going through POBC.

NCC/NPCC are the worse. As the cadets progress and “promote” to higher ranks, thy are lulled into a false sense of achievement and feel they’re good. Most of them tend to slack off and start bullying the younger cadets. So much so when they end up getting “bullied” all over again in BMT so most likely cannot take it.

Things at the ground have changed ... some sec 3/4 cadets who are stuck at CPL (NPCC) or 3SG (NCC) get the 'feel good' attitude already ... dun ask me, how they do it though ...
