Ans:

1) No. Ass Air F only pay you service pay. It'll be around S$7 plus. Cheapskate rite?

2) No need at all. If they ask you take IPPT, fark them.

3) Charged for AWOL ( IPPT ), can't claim from your company. However, your manager or boss or director should give you time off to go to any camp to 'take order' during your absent in the company. Should you get any DB, do note tat your comapny got the very rite to deduct your month salary from you.

Sorry I do not have any links but all these are true incidents happened to some of my friends/camp mates.

threadstarter judging from your nick, i assumed that u have already ORDed. but your Q2 and Q3 are rather contradicting. are u a full-time student or working? Question

tankee1981 SG

Haha... i was a full time student who graduate less than a year ago and now working full time.

Yes, i believe last time no need to take IPPT for full-time student. Then they ask me to go answer charge for AWOL from IPPT some time last year. Luckily the LTA let me go without punishment. However, when i tried to book a date for IPPT online, a few days later a clerk from ATC called up and told me that i need not take IPPT as i was a full time student!!!

Now they want to charge me again because i didn't take during my lastest IPPT window. This window happens to be when i am still in school for at least 8 mths out of the 12 mths. I only started working recently after i graduate in june this year. So do i have a case to defend myself guys?

This is so frustrating because i need to take no pay leave to go for this charge.

Ok, l hope I can help to clear up the issue..

Full time students MUST take IPPT no matter what. I went for NSmen briefing shortly after I ORD'ed last year, and we were told that its a must to take IPPT. If you study in SMU, NUS, NTU, or any of the 5 polys after you ORD, you need not take RT even if u fail IPPT due to the Higher Learning scheme, for the duration of your course in these institutes. For those like me who study in private schools like MDIS, SIM etc, you must take RT if you fail IPPT.

Gordonator SG

anyway to answer this question. u don't even have to claim. mindef will automatically credit the money to your bank account within 2 weeks. they will even sms u to inform u the date the money will be in. Laughing

Thanks for the info, i never attended such breifings before so have totally no idea.

Is there by any chance that what is mentioned above is a newer system and that the previous system allow NSmen who are full-time students to be exempted from taking IPPT? Any lao jiaos care to shed some light? I need to know this ASAP because i need to go tomorrow! Thanks Very Happy

KoolKool SG

Ignorance is no defence.

But since you are going to be charged, you might as well ask them to show you all the documents, including those that say full-time students are not exempted, so you are satisfied when you pay your fine.

I also had a case that I could not book my IPPT through www.ns.sg. I called and was told to book in the next window. I insisted to take my IPPT since I had already prepared myself and we found that it was a system error that prevented my booking.

In the end, I got $200 + 1/2 day pay, instead of getting charged for failing to take IPPT and going for 2 months RT. What a relief !!

tankee1981 SG

I am back....luckily i am not charged!

Yes, there have been lots of hiccups with the website and the system especially with NSFs doing most of the admin work.

My unit Chief Clerk just taken over from 2 NSFs who have been dealing with my units matters and she acknowledged that things can be done better.

Now that a capable Chief Clerk and staff in place, things will look set to be more efficient and our NS time more pleasant. Very Happy

KoolKool SG

Good for you ! But maybe you will have to start your RT soon.

tankee1981 SG

No need for RT just need to book for IPPT for this year's window.

Which camp take IPPT better? I heard that in Maju camp the 2.4km route involves a downward slope, is this true? I aim to get silver and the $200 prize money. Very Happy

Manager433 SG

Maju the best. 3 round only and the so call downslope so short distance nia ( about 100m ) not to forget just b4 that downslope, u need to run upslope Laughing about 100m.

tankee1981 SG

Thats what my friend said too. However, will they have a trial run or at least a briefing on the route before the test? I have never been to Maju before so have no idea of the layout. I don't want to run until so tired still need to look out for signboards and NSFs with flags. Very Happy

UandMe SG

there's no more upslope at maju already, only downslope. now it's truely the best!

Manager433 SG

Have lah. One just after the MT line, 100m slightly upslope and on ur left is a basketball court, then turn right a level 100m run and finally turn right again 100m downslope.
