bendito.L SG i think its best/safest to address them by their rank then their name ie: Staff Tan or Master Tan or Warrant Tan be it male or female persons holding that particular rank
KoolKool SG MSG, SSG, 1SG, 2SG, 3SG are all in the SGT category. So, they should be Sergeant in short. Example : Sergeant Tan 2WO, 1WO, MWO and SWO are warrant officers. Example : Warrant Tan

KoolKool SG These people must accept the fact that they are really sergeants, whatever type. And if they have ego problems, strive harder to reach the Warrant status early. When the recruits get shaven botak, they suddenly become 'blur'. Try not to confuse them with too many terms. Just simple Sir, Encik, Sergeant and Corporal. I hear the Officers and Warrant Officers calling these ranks 'sergeants'. Is there a double standard even for a smple form of address ?
