Huh? Relax lah dun overreact. Was it even the SAF's intention to
fully replace the M-16 with SAR-21 within 7 years of adopt a
look-see, look-see, replace as you go along policy?
At least from my recently-ended NS experience the SAR has become
very widespread in the SAF, all frontline combat units are using it
now and some mono intakes are not even trained in M-16, using SAR
all the way. If it was a truly failed project we would not really
bother with keeping it all this while and coming up with so many
different versions for export and local use. Given some of the
M-16s still have some life in them, I don't think the SAF is in a
hurry to phase them out yet, but aim to eventually replace them all
with the SAR.
