SpecOps87 SG Thanks for the share. The fitness requirements for a athlete and a soldier is very much different. But being an athlete certainly takes more discipline than a soldier in terms of the diet, work out programme etc. I'm actually trying to incorporate 2 X of 1.5 km swims into my tight weekly schedule. Hope to be able to do more though. Wow...the Ironman event...haha, mebbe in a few years hopefully.
Marco_Simone SG a caveat:being in top physical condition don't mean you are fit to be a soldier. Last time in my BMT platoon, got this national swimmer guy who chao geng all the way until he out of course and became transport supervisor. Why he chao geng? Coz he cannot stand staying in... I myself cannot stand staying in camp also.
Stooky SG ya lor, stay in suxxx... no freedom, n the bunk suxx, so boring nothing to do, n worse still if have to put up wif irritating bunkmates.
Tuki SG y are u doing so much swimming?? u aiming to be diver ah lol. Go do more running lah that will help better
SpecOps87 SG No lah, when I was a kid, like 3/4 that time I had asthma mah. And I was like "cured" because every weekend my parents will bring me swimming. So yeah, sorta developed into a habit.
Rockhound SG the unorthodox way: enjoy life...fail napfa...enlist in ptp enhanced batch...start smoking.....and u'll pop being superhuman...the first few days damn teruk...after that...it will be smooth sailing for u fitness-wise
Marco_Simone SG This I agree. Coz some of the direct BMT batch guys slack off during the long break after their studies. Or their so called 6 chin ups are actually half assed attempts and the NAFA tester was half asleep during the test. When they come in,they really suffer man...
KoolKool SG You need some amount of physical fitness. The rest is in the mind. Its endurance that can take you through, not just fitness.
SpecOps87 SG My arms and legs are aching after completing a 1.8km swim. I need help on my pull-ups now and my 2.4km though.
madcampus SG i’m from ptp batch, pop with ippt gold. seriously, those dat came into my bmt company with nafa pass, also dun see much diffference of fitness.
CenturionMBT SG Thats not the only point. Towards the end of BMT, you always see the PTP pple booking out at 8am while the enhance pple book out at 1-4pm.
KoolKool SG Wah lao eh ......... common sense what. Do more training and regularly to achieve better fitness. But he certainly has a nice name to his programme .......... Armstrong.
