Even regular specs don't really have job security these days. If
they are evaluated to be not so good, didn pass IPPT, range etc...
they may not even be offered PP2.
After spending 10 years in the army, you finish ur PP1, but never
recieve PP2, what can you do? Your experience in the army is hardly
counted as work experience outside.
Like what the rest say, the only way u can flourish inside the army
is that u LOVE the military, and do 101% in it. Otherwise, forget
it, best to remain an enthusiast, and just read up about while
holding normal jobs. Don't forget, you still can be garang with no
strings attached during Reservist and improve ur redcon.
I've a friend, who really enjoys military stuff, the exercises,
going outfield, the planning, going thru the sh!t. Guess whats his
job? A dancer.
The military may not be your own interest or passion. Some of these
passion u won't even discover until you are older or perhaps at
least after u finish NS. I was one who saw the monetary benefits
offered by SAF and nearly sold my soul to them. Finally, when I
remembered the regimental life style, the sh!t rollin down the
hill, I asked myself, "Is this what I really want for the next 10
years? Working with unmotivated ppl who shrug their
responsibilities, arrowing NSFs? Having so much beauracracy built
around me..."
The money may be attractive, but who is to say that there aren't
better opportunities in future? Don't sign on, unless u really love
the military. OR if your family finance situation is not so good, u
really need to cash to support ur family, etc, then maybe u can
learn to love the army as a career.
