Well.. depends where you want to define this.
In Singapore they are regarded as cult and a group that is
detrimental to the security of Singapore. Therefore declared an
illegal organisation. Individuals are still permitted to profess to
this denomination of religion but their beliefs are not recognised
and accepted.
In US, it is still regarded as a denomination of Christianity and
while they do have a stigma in the general society, their
activities and gatherings are still legal and protected by
laws.
