There were a few service medics in my platoon.

Basically, service medics don't have to take part in the outfield component of the combat medic phase. They just observe us from one side while we combat medics go chiong out in the jungle.But they still have to learn medical center procedures, etc.

need to go thru bslc...as the last ever normal specII course started last august...now need to go thru BSLC like all specs..(eg. Arty,signals,ADA,MP)
then to 4mth modified spec course...involving med ctr attachment...hospital a&e and SCDF attachment...tests are to be passed with higher passing marks...
my batch Pt-ed almost everyday between bouts of studying..once clear paramedic phase comes the slacker(in terms of studying) combat medic phase....

want slack...go rifle coy be coy medic...some say ams 'advocates' are slacker...

want siong...go med ctr be 2ic..

this is my opinion anywaes....

most of the times medics learn to be self-reliant in units as nobody cares much abt us...

pray that u don't kana guard duty. the guard duty system at nee soon is screwed up. Laughing

the only good thing is u get to use the computer for internet or for games. (but not sure whether or not the computer is still functioning now though)

That depends. In my unit we medics were 'unofficially' excused from guard duty since we were already doing medical center duty. We only did other regimental duties when there were not enough people to go around (eg when the mono-intake men all ORD-ed at the same time).

But yeah, I had to do guard duty during my CMC and Spec II courses.

And yeah, the guard system at Nee Soon sucks. Once when we were supposed to do staff parade, the DO didn't even bother to turn up. Laughing

during your time at nee soon, the DO and guardcom all come from 6Div right? 6Div DO are known to be very slack. many don't turn up for staff parade. Laughing

The guard comd came from SOCE.

I didn't know where the DO came from. I never saw him at all. We were all standing like goondus for 30 minutes waiting for him to show up until the guard comd decided to call off the staff parade. Laughing
