These days you see so many officers wearing various badges on their chests, JCC, CSB, etc

Why haven't the SAF allowed the men and specialists to attend such courses as well? Sure I understand that they want to give the officers a sense of achievement, but what about the men and specialist.

I think a heighten awareness of the non-officers will do SAF a world of good.

I'm not saying make it mandatory for everyone to take, but at least give people a chance to go for them if they want to. A lot of NS men will opt not to, but those who are willing.. why not?

resources requirements are much more than that..

contrary to your understanding, specialists do go for such courses too. of course due to resource constraints, they would probably get to go only when they become relatively senior, e.g. 1SG, SSG.

but for certain vocations, even this is not true, and one can go at any rank.

all man from ADF, PTE to CPL, must attend JCC. such courses are given piority to regulars. so if you NSF, please wait long long then Serve And F off.

i see what u are getting at. actually it can be done, as in volunteering to go for such courses, but only if u have connections. just ask master-_- Laughing

time and manpower is of consideration, if all the NSFs go sign up for these courses, who will be at the office doing work? and some of these courses might take weeks.

furthermore, we don't really need a clerk with a JCC badge or a RP with airborne badge right? Laughing

yes that would be a waste of manpower.

yes, but even if given a choice, those who are clerks or RPs wont even wanna go in the first place, with the clerks having PES status problems before going for it.

i think that NSFs should be allowed to go on JCC, airborne and other courses, and im not talking abt commandos. yes, regulars have priority while NSFs serve 2 years and F-O. but i feel that MINDEF should keep in mind that NSFs and NSmen outnumber regulars, and should crap hit the fan, the people under the category "NS" make up the bulk of the fighting force.

yes. most infantry men and specialists are eligible to go for the course.

i can confirm men from 6SIR do went for the course. many have gotten the badge. just that currently most of them don't wear it as they are waiting for the new olive green version of the badge to be issued.
