SpecOps87 SG Am wondering guys, why is it that when Feu De Jour is executed, the rifle has to be cocked after every shot? And when using the weapons for MILES simulation or training, the weapons can be fired semi-auto w/o the need to cock after each shot or can even be fired auto. Is the ammo used for drills different from the ones used for exercises? Thanks in advance
SpecOps87 SG Nothing to do with the lack of the blank firing attachment? If I’m not mistaken, both the blanks use for exercises and drills are black bodied, and have a silver base with matallic green percussion cap. So whats the difference? Please elaborate, thanks!
one-niner SG A blank round is a blank round. The reason for the the GOH to having cock their weapon after every round is due to the fact that the retaining pin within the bolt carrier group of the M16 has been removed.Hope i am right on this ..either this or the bolt cam pin is removed ..i can't remember which extact part of the rifle is removed.
one-niner SG Weapons with MILES have the MILES system attached to the front of the weapons, and the weapons use normal black attachment to replace the flash suppressor.
Shotgun SG I forgot the full command le.. hahah "blah blah kerhomatan, akan tembak feu de jour, isikan peluru", "hormat, tembak!" sorry for the inaccuracies, dunno malay very well... haha anyone can type out the accurate command for us? =D
ouchtthurt SG yeap no part of the weapon is removed.i have stripped before parade, everything intact…
one-niner SG okay sorry ...mucked it up with the commissioning parade. i was the armskote ic and i had to ensured all the rifles drawn by my seniors firing pins were accounted for in the armskote.
Zooish SG ehh... if remove bolt carrier, then the weapon cannot even fire liao! Its something to do with the blanks used. Bolt carrier is removed only during SAF day parades etc when there is NO feu de joir. Full Command (not sure abt spelling): kawalan kerhormatan, akan tembak feu de joir, isikan peluru; hormat; tembak isikan lagi; hormat; tembak isikan lagi; hormat, tembak datang senjata
f50_vapor SG why do they remove the bolt carrier? is it so that there will be more sound when they ' tulong senjata'?
Gedanken SG SpecOps is spot-on. When you do the FDJ, you use the normal flash suppressor instead of the blank attachment. Because there’s not enough pressure in the gas return tube, the bolt carrier group is not pushed back, and the weapon therefore has to be readied manually for the next shot.
SpecOps87 SG So that means…the need for the weapon to be manually charged each time is due to in sufficient gas being forced back into the gas tube to help eject the cartridge and load another into the chamber? And that this has nothing to do with the ammo at all?
LazerLordz SG Nope. Ammo is standard blanks. That's what I know. They are just making use of the inability of the M16 to cycle fully.
Gedanken SG It's a combination of the ammo and the flash suppressor. When you fire a live round, part of the air that's pushed in front of the projectile goes through the gas return tube. With a blank, the only thing being pushed through is the gas discharged from ignition from the round. Now that gas pushes the air in the barrel forward as well, but to a much smaller extent because most of that kinetic energy is lost when the discharge gas is compresses while pushing the air forward.
