can anyone tell me the steps to firing a m16..such as putting rifle to safe mode, den take out magazine, den load magazine..blah blah.. i forgot the steps afte that..

1. Put the safety switch to "Safe"
2. Load your magazine into your rifle
3. Pull the charging handle
4. Take aim
5. Flick the safety switch to "Semi"
6. Firer, watch your front... Own time own target, carry on...

how can one call himself a soldier if he can forget how to fire a weapon? please stay away from all firearms in future as u are a danger to yourself and those around u.

If I'm not mistaken, the M16 cannot be put to "SAFE" when its not cocked.

Alternatively if you have exhausted your mag of rounds, you may choose to:
(1) Eject the magazine
(2) Insert the magazine
(3) Push the bolt-cosure button and let the bolt close
(4) Carry-On Firing

Shotgun SG

Assuming ur rifle is empty, uncocked with the bolt carrier in the forward position.

Remove empty magazine from M-16

Swap and insert loaded magazine, check that its loaded. Slap the magazine into reciever hard.

Point rifle down range, pull charging handle all the way back n release.

Switch to safe, and press the forward assist a few times.

Wait for command, "Firer watch ur front," or "Own time own target"

Switch to semi, take aim, and squeeze trigger.

tats call the 'combat load'. fast, efficient n easy! may i replace step 3 wif the term "ease spring", as ur "Push the bolt-cosure button and let the bolt close" may sound a little confusing to some ppl.. Laughing

bloody hell, cannot even switch to safe before u pull the charging handle. and why would somebody want to pull it so that it can switch to safe? wouldnt this be more dangerous as a round might still be in the chamber? or chamber a round in? and the rifle is always supposed to be treated as loaded and readied.

switching to safe, then switch to fire, press nothing come out (oops! no round inside chamber!) and then pull the charging handle. still have to pull the handle.

in real war, die already.

First rule of thumb, never load your weapon until you are told.

Fingers out of the trigger guard at all times.

Hah, and the most commonly broken rule. Never point ur rifle at anyone, even when unloaded.

Know what is the term reservist?As if people like to term themselves or want to be soldier in the first place....also people might be saw gunner/MG Gunner that may not even touch the M16 for firing for exercises cos they will be firing SAW or MG all the time and lost touch with the M16 precise steps to ensure safety.At least he bother to ask so that he can refresh himself,that is being humble and not assuming...

By your own measure,a person who does not remember how to use a weapon and do not ask is the dangerous person not the one who bother to ask

well the step will have to be

put in mag on the command load and ready
Pull the charging handle fully backwards,release
Put to safe
Finger to be put outside the trigger area at all time until the command own time own target,carry on is given,then switch to fire mode desired,start firing.

The put to safe first mode is only for using a SAW weapon not the M16

a nsf could still be a saw or MG gunner and lost touch with his M16 precise procedure to ensure safety.Such a person who bothered to ask should not be blasted for asking esp since the person who blasted him is a moderator for this forum which should have better sense.
