I read a couple of weirdos saying a world class country like sg
getting dengue and then comparing it to the poisoned food in
Taiwan.. what a ridiculous comparison. And FYI Taiwan's dengue
fever situation is worsening too. You know how their Govt is
tackling the problem? Spraying insecticide INSIDE houses.. the
number of dogs that died recently in Kaohsiung...
I have been in Taiwan for Three years now... I MISS SINGAPORE.
The things you see while on holiday, the exploring etc is so
different when you are living in the country. You will appreciate
the smallest things like the smooth roads in Singapore lol ( I sat
as a pillion on a scooter and injured my neck a couple of times
because of those annoying 'holes' on the road)
Let's not forget how you can't really trust what you are eating
in Taiwan anymore because of all the 'fake' food that the was
approved by certain Government officials (bribery of course) You
appreciate Taiwan if you are earning a Singaporean pay check. Their
average salary is a mere1.3k sgd a mth. All in all, I used to feel
the stress levels/rudeness in Singapore were crazy etc but you lose
some you gain some. LKY is a genius to transform SG from crap to
our very developed country. If you grew up in Taiwan and go to a
university here without furthering your education abroad... your
degree is seen as useless unless you went to the top 3 uni. Again,
this was caused by idiots, Govt officials who approved TOO MANY
schools making many schools redundant and those greedy schools
passed any student who paid.
Taiwanese in general are nice. I prefer them sometimes. But,
Taiwan is not improving and that makes everyone sad. So many
Taiwanese I have met are dying to leave their country for good, but
with the language barrier, their 'unknown' educational background,
it is difficult for them to get accepted by schools or work
overseas( except for China it seems). I personally know more than a
handful who wanted to stay on in Australia after studying their
masters but they gave up before trying because they felt that their
English was just not good enough. I guess Im referring to the
general middle to upper middle class citizens.
The same guy infront talked about health insurance and dental
care. Look, tbh, their dental care is shit. I have the medical
insurance but I still go back to Sg for regular check ups and
cleaning. DENTIST in tw always claim that my teeth is 'perfect' in
tw but in sg, im being scolded. AND I know my freaking teeth is not
perfect when its freaking aching.
The TW dentist version of cleaning teeth is spraying
slightly pressurized water and 3 mins later he says your teeth is
clean. Please, next time any of you are in Taiwan, take a gooooodd
longgg look at everyone's teeth. It's not pretty. My kaohsiung
friend asked me why every foreigner who visits seem to have such
nice teeth.. I couldnt tell her that because of the health and
dental insurance that they have, dentist and doctors just wants to
have as many patients in a day and if you need to have a filling,
they will split your sessions to have more money reimbursed to
their accounts.
Oh well, live in both counties. Experience the most out of both.
But it doesnt mean you have to settle in a place you do not
like.
