They are supposed to replaced it with Rextons. SAF bought a lot
of it already. But after certain trials, they realised it is not
cost effective in terms of maintenance.
Also I think CDF was dissapointed with it. During a training in
Taiwan, CDF is being ferried in the Rexton. But along the way the
Rexton broke down. And no Rexton trained technician were around. In
fact no one in SAF is Rexton trained. I think he got angry and
decided to forego the deal.
So project is abandoned and the bulks are resold. The Rextons are
used only for certain purposes nowadays. Like for Div Comd to go
outfield for exercises.
Not too long ago, they decided to embark a new deal with Ford. Ford
gave SAF two models to test and play with it . A 4wd SUV. And a
pick up. But the testers for the vehicle gave CSTO a thumbs down.
So I think the project failed again.
Humvees too big for Singapore roads bah.
