will4 SG Precisely cause if the person signed on, if down the road never liked it , had to compensate the service if he planned to leave.
NDU SG what you posted! was 100% true! although, not all green horn offiicer are kuku! but... i did came across alot of such officier! (officier in the house, dont mind kay ) however, sometime i look at it, its manily becoz, those officer they r trying to be ON THE BALL or they trying to contrubute more! but.... they have to understand, the culture, and pratice in the forces was something of much differ from SCHOOL (OCS/ Mids). you cant change the way the unit works! if you really want, its need time!
LazerLordz SG It applies to Specialists as well. Especially those posted out from ASLC to technical bases and logistics depts. They try to pull their rank in a place where 3SGs are commonplace as lizard crap.
Hellraiza SG i dare say i signed on the dotted cuz of love and passion.... but unfortunately... I love the country, it's the people that screw me over.
lwflee SG ACtually hor, are there not other Civil service positions that you can sign up in? You seem to be largely motivated by job security. The problem with the army (aside from the fact that the 'military' aspect of the job is not taken seriously and you have no real opportunity to be a soldier though and through) is that when you leave, you leave with absolutely no useful skill at all. You might not even have a driving licence if you do not clock 7000 K. Try civil defence? Maybe there are paramedic qualifications avaliable?
LazerLordz SG Why not? But can you hit their standards? And bear in mind that you better get complete your Legion tour and get your French citizenship or else you'll be in hot soup with MINDEF for your NS and NSmen obligations.
lwflee SG OF course can. But selection is difficult nowadays, the threadstarter will be evading his NS obligations and I am not sure the threadstarter has the motivation to stick with the FFL.
Ristar SG ... no one talks about the Singapore Combat Engineers? 30th Singapore Combat Engineers - Plant/Field Engineers 35th Singapore Combat Engineers - Bridging Engineers 36th Singapore Combat Engineers - Explosive Ordnance Disposal 39th Singapore Combat Engineers - Chemical, Biological, Radiological Defense for 36SCE and 39SCE, there is a $400 risk allowance for Regulars, $200 for NSF. however, in 36SCE, be prepared for lots of real world ops, and burn your week ends like theres no tomorrow. however, u go to places where ordinary people can not and will not go.
Shotgun SG Oh yeah, like sweeping n sniffing parliament house b4 any parliament meets. Prepare to burn weekends BIG TIME man. On the other hand, in 36SCE, u can have a bit of fun time playing with the dogs. They are soooo adorable. =D I'm a dog lover, sue me.
Shotgun SG awww.. how can u ever resist them when they look at u with those puppy dog eyes... Begging u to just pet them a bit....
