Lost prestige

gd4u SG

Red Beret is not a patent of Cdo. They are the best of infantry( ok, maybe someone wana say guards or some other vocation...), and the red beret just represents their 'best' in their own field. Likewise, the Police SOC (Special Operations Command) uses the Red beret for represntation. If I am not wrong, the PTT (Police Tactical Troop) wears the red beret.

I know still got STAR n SOF lar, but hor, the more i talk, the more alien it looks ...

martin_lim85 SG

my toes are laughtong really out loud

chunyong SG

aiyah…its just a beret…get over it.

wuming78 SG

U wen thru both Basic police training(BPT) & BMT before? I'll tell you the difference when i complete mine. What is just training compared to real life task & missions? You go thru BMT or BCT, u risk ur own life not ur family. U go thru BPT like me, not only am i facing training risk, my family might be targets or revengeful criminals when im on the street doing my duty. Police wayang only mah.

pwnz0r SG

KNN, then infantry in Singapore wear green beret, the real Green Berets special forces troops in the US super sian.

Scarly train together, they think you wear green beret is special forces. Laughing

Prestige is never from the headdress on the person but the aura that comes with the person. It will be kind of sad if you have to identify a guardsman or commando from the beret and not the way he carries himself

Thats my 2cts worth.

Gordonator SG

only red berets got prestige lah? blue berets got no prestige lah? blue berets like the combat engineers, artillery and MRF also chiong suah hor. we don't judge a person by the beret he wears but the things he do. Laughing

mhcampboy SG

Chief Of Defense also currently wearing blue beret. ISnt that prestigious enough?? Mr. Green

gd4u SG

The beret not for his head one lar ... it is for his tummy .... Mr. Green

packjust SG

I feel sad for people whose self-esteem rest on which unit he belongs to and the colour of his beret.

As the word "Self-esteem" implies, your esteem is determined by YOU and not on outside factors like your unit and some stupid color of your headdress.

mhcampboy SG

WTH!??? Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

He toned down a bit ok...!! LOL Mr. Green

bendito.L SG

which brings to mind
initially the US Army RANGERS were the only 1s wearing the Black Beret
after a revamp all US Army personnel (except SF and i think Infantry(they wear the Red Beret)) now wears the Black Berets along with the RANGERS
correct mi if i'm wrong

wonderamazement SG

Thought the rangers had the tan desert beige one?

Hellraiza SG

while i was on course at another camp, some aussie soldiers who were there for exchange program asked me, "hey mate, you guys SF or something?"

I nearly died laughing. He seemed kinda amused when i told him our riflemen wear green berets. "Wow then your infantry must be super good!"

MUAHAHAHA.

And yes the US Rangers now wear the khaki beret.

snowbird82 SG

Let him have the wrong conception of Red Beret being prestigious ah. Its only for 2 years anyway. Haa.

martin_lim85 SG

ya he will say "no commando anot hum still the same pieces"

Gedanken SG

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the Royal Marine Commandos have more of a claim on the green beret than the US Special Forces do.

Agreed that a beret's just a beret - it's the wearer that counts. While there are many fellow red beret wearers I'd count as mates, there are a few I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire.

NDU SG

dont worrie, our commando's still flying high Mr. Green

just like in U.S, the GREEN BERETS was consider one of the elite!!! and they are always proud to say they are the GREEN BERETS
