Calling all pilots!!

Hi. I have some questions here regarding RSAF which I really really hope someone would help in answering.

ok... here goes the list. just 3 questions.

(1) Do we have to sign-on with the army to be an RSAF pilot? If we have to, what is the mimimum duration we have to serve the army?

(2) Do recruits have a choice of aircraft they wish to pilot? such as plane or helicopter

(3) Can pilots move on to be commercial pilots when they leave the military?

Actually there is such a thing known as (NS) pilot but these are former regular pilots who have completed their 10yrs bond right after getting their wings/brevet(approximately 26mths). These pilot's opted not to continue their service so they bcome sort of "reservist" pilot. Once a pilot always a pilot.

Answers:

1) No, U just hv to complete BMT, go for CPSS, pilot selection interview, aeromedical check up,once u successful, then they will call u sign the bond (10 yr bond is effective only after u have earn ur wings, otherwise contract terminated.)

2)It is base on manpower requirement , quota, performance. But they are allowed to appeal. Eg. if they have space for 10 fighter pilot, n they have 20 qualified for fighter, top 10 will make it, the rest stream to transport or rotary.

3) Yes, But He/She is subjectted to conversion courses. 1 of them is C/IRPL (Commercial Instrument Rated Pilot License).

1) u sign on with the airforce... not the army... and i think there's a bond of 12 years if im not wrong... cant really remember...

so meaning to say it takes 2 years to become a pilot and the bond will start after getting their wings. but for the 1st 2 years as a trainee will they be getting regular's pay? Question

Hey you wanna be a pilot ah ? Its not easy dude. You have to clear a 5hr plus computerised test, interview and a medical. I cleared the first two but during the medical, the MO told me my spine abit not straight and so its good game for me. So all the best man!

yep, they get starting salary of between S$1867 - S$3199 & to topped that is S$170 for Training Supplement Allowance. Only after they earned their "wings/brevet", they get pilot,variable & flying allowance.

wow. that's a huge sum of money. imagine a NSF who signed up for pilot. he went for the course but failed and goes back to serving his rest of his NS. will he be getting that sum of money too when he is still a pilot trainee?

once he fail the course... the contract is voided and he goes back to the army... or wherever he is from...

yup... draw regular pay when still in air force
draw NSF pay when back to army... Sad
