East Timor Sparks Again - SAF sending soldiers?

nightzip SG

Precisely! Singapore will only perform Peace Keeping roles, and send in medics, peace keepers, etc....but never combat roles....

It is Not Singapore to send in combat people to fight....which is good...cuz i think fighting is wrong....and the reason why Singapore has been prospering is due to the good karma...that is, we always help and not kill...this good rationale has tide us through many storms....such as good economy despite bear market in the 97s, 2001s, etc, bad weather, tsunami, hurricanes, etc... Very Happy

The difference is that when you tell people in ADF to go, they are under a duty to do so. Volunteers have a choice.

gd4u SG

My memory poor, what is ADF ??

MobyDog SG

I do not agree that we deploy troops to Timor as yet...

The situation is suspicious. I suspect, Australia's imperium for oil and gas resources are at play. The USA, British and Australia are flock of the same feathers.

The rebel's leader was Australian Trained and were able to broadcast live. Why was he not singled out for military snatch ?

Russia wanted more information before commiting UN military assistance.. Malaysia has the same view.....

Why would we want to put our troops in harms way for the benefit for others. If it's true that this situation is manufactured, it would mean a long deployment, and violent incidents would occur to faciliate coalition involvement.

Remember ... The Bali blast has indication of Australian thumbprint involvement in it....

LazerLordz SG

We have our interests there as well, especially the development of their corporate and industrial infrastructure.

We should send a message that we care too.Australian engagement is neccessary, and if Horta's government invited the 4RAR and 3RAR in, it's their call.

Gordonator SG

If CDF Ng Yat Chung goes, will he be temporarily promoted to a 4 stars general? Laughing

LazerLordz SG

Send Ronnie Tay there, then he will be Vice Admiral. Laughing

SpecOps87 SG

Well, forgive me for saying this. But as a Nation we are not yet able nor willing to accept deaths of servicemen in training and definitely much less in conflict. So in my opinion, if SAF is sent in, they will go there to pick up empty cartridges and pick up dead bodies. So far have never read/heard about an incident where our boys actually get shot at and return fire killing or wounding.

So yeah...we will only go in when the dust settles to pick up the empty cartridges and dead bodies.

Hellraiza SG

i had a feeling that this thread would pop up today. Laughing

anyway, best not to speculate too much on who's going lah, IF anyone's going at all. And believe me, any mention of alpha delta foxtrot nowadays will set alarm bells ringing faster than shit draws flies...

king108 SG

Laughing Like that must call my unit to volunteer leh...

LazerLordz SG

1992 UNIKOM, Kuwait-Basra border. There were shots exchanged over the border we were monitoring.

Our SAF needs a test thats for sure.

Guys, no more mention of ADF please. Anymore extra references to ADF will be deleted summarily.

lwflee SG

I note that it is not exactly a secret?

Pitot SG

If u go to the link provided. hmm, is the fleet of F16s on top the thunderbirds? or is it just me....Or they are our own aacrobatic display team?

Hellraiza SG

u have a point there. It's normal to associate certain people with certain tasks, but at this point of time, best not to discuss about them too deeply. Speculation leads to curiosity, and you know what they say about curiosity... Crying or Very sad

Manager433 SG

Last time when I was still a NSF, I remembered he was only a III.

king108 SG

Laughing Never volunteer yourself..yet wanted to send other people there..come lah..let go together.. I protect you from behind..

LazerLordz SG

Yes, and so is ISG. But to associate people and specified tasks is a very grey area for now.

It's better to leave it at speculation.

nightzip SG

yup, at most send soldiers there to protect installations or buildings or embassy.

We Sg soldiers are not those killers like Aus, US, etc....we are helpers...providing medics, etc. Razz

No flaming please. Laughing

Hellraiza SG

simi is ISG?

LazerLordz SG

lwflee's mindef link shows Imagery Support Group as one of the award recipient units.

Laughing didn't expect to see that out too.
