1st time seeing officers only wearing the No 5 w/o jackets in a state event…

Master -_- SG

Last time in my NSF time, there was a military funeral.. and officers would be wearing the same thing too.. Apparently, that was the unofficial funeral attire..

Gordonator SG

for info, only officers are allowed to wear a No.5J. Specilists are not allowed to wear a NO.5J but they are allowed to wear No.5T.

same goes for No.2.

sbst275 SG

Seen are all officers leh

Gordonator SG

of course, all officers are allowed to wear all military attires from No.1 to No.5J/T. Laughing

sbst275 SG

Yah but what the

Some wear 5 with jacket, some dun...

Thought all standardise dress code? Laughing

Ponders SG

what are the 4 no. 5 ah?

5S 5J 5T 5E

Simplified, Jacket, T?, Enhanced.

what's T?

Of the military funerals i have been, i always seen them in 5S (no jacket).

Master -_- SG

T is tie... the grey tie they wear

Gordonator SG

let me answer your qustion.

No.5J is No.5 with Jacket and tie.

No.5T is No.5 with tie only.

No.5S is No.5 with jacket and tie without name tag, badges and service bar.

No.5E is No.5 with jacket, tie, name tag, badges and service bar.

Prestroz SG

As far as I know, No.5 is only further divided into No.5T or No.5J... dun think there's such thing like 5S or 5E. 5T is long sleeves shirt with tie/tie clip but without jacket, while 5J is long sleeves shirt with tie and jacket... Every soldier is entitled to wear their full uniform decorations when they put on their uniforms, so there shouldn't be such thing as 5S in which you wear your uniform with nothing on it... Smile

saline SG

5E is enhanced. it is worn with full medals.
5J is jacket. without full medals. usually they will put the ribbons or none at all.

Ponders SG

Go T J S E one.....

it's inside the SAF Dress Manual.

No 6 got

6C 6P? not sure what number 6 have.

Actually SAF Dress Manual states one thing that many people are not doing.

They are supposed to wear the beret according to the arms of their current unit. Not beret of their initial vocation.

So a Commando serving as RSM in an SIR by right have to wear green beret... but try telling them to do that.

but i know some ppl just wear it because they say that's the contract they initially sign.

Gordonator SG

sounds like an encik in my department. he's an old infantry man now in an engineer unit, he's not an engineer btw. any other days he will wear green beret if the occassion requires him to wear a headdress. then got any parades or engineers' events he waer blue. LOL. Laughing

but the most funny got to be this ASLC 3SG posted to my engineer unit as a guardhouse spec. ya he wears green beret, die die also don't want to wear blue.

then last year together with me, we were selected for the engineers day parade. the whole parade was wearing blue, he 1 c0cksters wear green in fornt of everyone. when my contingent RSM asks him why, he still got the cheeks to say he's infantry trained, so he wears green.

he was such a laughing sock.

LazerLordz SG

he's trying hard to sooth his ego, he must be wondering how he ended up in the guardhouse.

There are a few SSGs who were techs in Guards units, and they still insisted on wearing their 7SIB backing in my camp. Laughing Some wore green with 7SIB, some blue with 7SIB.

Can you imagine CO parade, we had a khaki beret, blue berets, blue berets with backing, green berets with backing and a black beret.

Gordonator SG

u mean you parade RSM didn't order them to change their beret? cos by right as what Ponders mentioned earlier, one is suppose to wear the beret according to the arms of one's current unit. Not beret of one's initial vocation.

especially since this is a parade we are talking about here. Laughing

AE86tofu SG

wad is no.5? how does it look like?

LazerLordz SG

majority of the 7SIB chaps are attached personnel. the khaki beret chap was Battalion 2IC.

Gordonator SG

long sleeve no.3 with tie loh. Laughing
