Well. in my opinion I think why it become a big case because the
rifle was not found in the immediate hours.
Had it been found within 6 hours of discovery of loss, i think the
matter would still be within SISPEC.
But after a period of time, to save their own A$ses, sispec must
report to their HQ (9DIV in this case) and mobilise necessary
manpower.
Imagine if the SISPEC PC scared scared go and just keep quiet and
keep it within his platoon. The news will be BIGGER if few days
later the DO found out that the armskote is missing 1 weapon.
A rifle is a rifle. You have one, you load it, you kill people.
That's how dangerous it is.
Who here doubt me if one can singlehandedly overtake a small camp
during this CNY days with an M16 rifle?
Anyway, you all should more or less have heard about that Brunei
case and the Jurong Island case. they were big cases too.
