Oic .. So is it safe to say at least half will be dropped ?

SMAPLionHeart SG

Laughing

Running 2.4 km is just purely fitness , not much of endurance testing.
In wartime , you depend more on endurance rather then of fitness.

Food for thought:
The better soldier is someone who can fight for 8 minutes longer rather then to run and complete a 2.4 km run inside enemy ground .

M©+square SG

Right and wrong.

You actually need both. And most importantly, the Brain.

Cheers

brucmerit SG

You are welcome..But NDU is not the place for you cos i tink u are the sort of person who think this way, '' Hellweek, I did it alone..My batchboys are pieces of shit..'' Sorry, u wun be able to survive hellweek...

t89z SG

How to become officer in NDU?

Do the NDU officers go through the naval midshipman course before going through the diving course, HELL week in NDU?

ahhaoz SG

To be an NDU officer, first must pass NDU Class II Diver course. must also get a good course rating. then get selected for OCS. Yes hellwk during class II course definitely must go through wan, specs officers alike.

Passing isn't too much of a problem i guess, it's doing well. Do you know the standards in NDU in terms of physical fitness?

t89z SG

After passing NDU Class II Diver course, then go to OCS for the midshipman course?

ahhaoz SG

yes.. or go BMTC tekong. post to OCS. post to NDU be your batch boy's PC during their BMT and then join them for Class II course. then u'll be a trainee not a PC.

when posted to OCS, you might not be MIDS, you maybe army officer.

brucmerit SG

I tink this route will be harder to go becasue u need to be very outstanding to get posted to NDU from the tekong & OCS route..It take years to apply man

WrX_STi SG

hmmm... im due respect for ndu. Very Happy personally im from cdo, sometimes u juz cant compare coz the jobscope is different.

ahhaoz SG

actually i feel that there really is nothing to compare. job scope's just different..

actually the route i just mentioned abt going to BMTC then to OCS then to NDU shld be easier.

BMTC to OCS is definitely easier than from NDU to OCS loh.. think abt it... cos standards are different.

then wad i heard from my PC who eventually was my batch boy is that when they pass out from OCS those who din wear specs were told to go for some chkup. and from they they pick a few to NDU loh. Smile

Gedanken SG

Amen. Said it before, I'll say it again: mad props to NDU from this commando - we're both professionals and therefore need to conduct ourselves that way. Very Happy

LazerLordz SG

Professionalism is about doing your job well and respecting the other fellow.Different vocations are taxing in different ways but all are vital. Very Happy

And let's just say I hold those Guardsmen in high esteem when they did not try to throw smoke bombs when we do investigation on their mortars. One pissed me off greatly when he swaggered in and behaved as he were a Plt.Sgt in our workshop and starting to order my juniors around the place.I gave him a subtle lesson in sarcasm by telling my juniors that they have better things to do in the office and the unit should unload their own weapons as we are not their slaves. Laughing

tripudio_mutatio SG

even for nsf who went to bmtc to ocs can come to NDU?
i thot that bmtc to ocs then to NDU applied more for regulars

ahhaoz SG

i think differ from year to year... batch to batch.. but i think if u volunteer, they won't stop u..

hammies SG

Hi, just checking, not all people who are enlisted to the Naval Diving Unit are not bound to be Navy Divers right . so approx. how many people per intake and how many will make it as navy divers ? and those who does not make the cut, what will they still be in the divers unit or will they just be posted to some other parts of the Navy ?

Thanks Smile

sadistmy SG

Yup.
The attrition rate is high.
People will be dropped out of the program during training.
Those dropped,
will be "recycled" to the mainstream navy fleet.
Dropped could be due to medical reasons or performance.

hammies SG

So any idea roughly how much the intake and how many percent will be dropped Question

Thanks

caligu SG

now the intake cut down to one per year(used to be 2)
so probably quite big intake.

as to percentage being cut, every batch different la but sure got one haah

donchoo SG

one of my relatives who is a NDU instructor recently got married and had his wedding dinner at marriott hotel (26 nov), any chance u ndu guys got attend his wedding?

brucmerit SG

The next batch will be very big with approx 180 intake..drop out rate depends on how ur batch perform..
