OCTs have to respect the rank of the people above them.And if they commit a mistake,their future rank is no protection against any punishment.

they have to because, they will be the one ordering soldiers to fight in the front and shot any derserters on the spot no matter how tough the battle and HQ order is.

If leaders are weak, then the whole fire team/platoon/company will collapse.

Yeah man.One minute I'm telling a OCT to read the coursebook for MIS time and time again before asking me questions when I'm on end-of-month OT, the next thing I know,he's the one I send my monthly reports to. Laughing

I have doubts shooting deserters will be effective. If someone is scared .. he might just shoot you for self defense using his rifle. I think let the MP handle deserters will be more effective.

Phase 1 OOC (
Phase 2 OOC = CPL (7th-15th week)
Phase 3 OOC = 3SG (15th - 38th week Laughing )

OCTs have a much worse life than RECs..
Indeed the lowest lifeform..Anyway PTEs and OCTs almost never meet..even if they meet, also won't order each one about wat..

Anyway OCTs stay PTEs for less than 2 weeks (duration of their block leave , and after that will be OCT rank all the way till commission or OOC)

Haha,my commissioned officer fren, told me before that sometimes recruits address OCTs as Sir.Haha..I wonder why

Cos they were awed/shocked/overwhelmed by the multitude of colourful and imaginative designs (white/orange/golden bars, fish, fish-with-line, crab-in-cage etc etc) sewn onto the epaulettes of OCTs.. Laughing

Anyway i dun think recruits bump into OCTs very much, do they?

cos recruits never step out of tekong so blur what, never see all the ranks before. so they'll address everyone with anything on their epaulettes as SIR. Laughing

Well just wait till they bump into a CWSM or CSSM lor.. Can just imagine the keh kiang platoon i/c stamping his feet loudly, shouting 'platoon diam!' and then saluting the OCT from 20m away, leaving his own PC too stunned for words. Laughing

But understandable lah, i think if i were in the REC's shoes, new to the army, i'd be super awed too by the large and unique ranks on the epaulettes.
