In my time in the 80s... not much TV to watch. So we either
round up enough people to play carrom ( I guess this is replaced by
PC games today), or we go to the mess and have just one drink (no
money !) and chat till midnight.
Sometimes we book out and go to Hougang and AMK ... our camp was
Nee Soon Camp. It was the hawker centre and the local shops... and
then back to camp at 2330 hrs.
Depending on the OC, some were strict, some were lenient, some of
us who were not on duty , could book out sometimes and go home
after 1730 hrs. I slept at home on many nights. I had a kind father
who drove me back to camp at 0700 hrs in the morning, in time for
first parade.
