Reconnaise scout/pointman

chronicles SG

Who has done reconnaise for their platoon first?Or do they call in the scouts/snipers first?

insouciant SG

There isn't such a formal role in the SAF. The infantry and guards battalions have scout platoons that are supposed to be the eyes and ears. While at brigade level they have the BRC. Division also has something.

At company or below, it's just the 1st guy from the section.

ditzy SG

Armour also have. During outfield, if we spot them, we get to catch them. Laughing

lwflee SG

At company level there is a Company recce team. Well, i've seen 2 such teams. I do not know if it is done that way all the time.

Division level recce is done by Commando LRRP Coy.

3 days off eh ?
Heh heh Mr. Green

I_love_my_toilet SG

Besides elite LRRP, wat abt the Divison Recce Bn ?

insouciant SG

Since when they institute company recce team? Which army unit u referring to?

Division hv recce battaliion lah. Commando LRRP not always used for this.

insouciant SG

That happens very often. Esp when exercise one battalion play defense and the other play offense. The defense scouts often times goes "hunting" for the other scouts. It's lots fun. Then we get to tie them up and have POWs. Twisted Evil Had an Encik that loved to "guard" them.

jeramy SG

yup every company has a company recce team commonly known as CRT. theres one for the battallion also called BRT. CRT and BRT jus scout for route normally while battallion scouts is more for enemy intelligence.

Division using a recce battalion? Hmm never heard of them before. Or do you mean that they use one battalion to do some sort of force reconnaissance?

jeramy SG

CRT on bikes would be a major problem.. how to find time to send them for bike course? and how to get so many bikes?

in my bn even getting bikes for the sct plt is a major headache. anyway SAF motor and transport system is fuxed up.

fudgester SG

Well, I'm pretty sure that every Coy has a Coy Recce Team.

In my Coy, it's basically made up of the 'spare' specs and officers. Laughing

I_love_my_toilet SG

You know what the battalion sounds like to me? Operation Human Bait.

Put all the riff raffs there and send the battalion to contact the enemy. Use their contact reps as intelligence. Hahahaha.

I_love_my_toilet SG

Theres a term for this " Recce by Fire " Mr. Green
Interesting !

lwflee SG

Yea. But i feel my description is more accurate. Smile
